The Med–Aniene Museum System consists of the Museo d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) in Anticoli Corrado, the Museo delle Culture di Villa Garibaldi (Museum of Traditional Cultures of Villa Garibaldi) in Riofreddo, the Museo della Civiltà Contadina Valle dell'Aniene (Museum of Farming Life in the Aniene Valley) in Roviano and the new Ecomuseo del Territorio (Ecomuseum of the Arsoli area). Because of their particular nature and scientific approach, the mission of these museums is to care for the surrounding territory, both by protecting the existing heritage and by promoting the local culture. Designed to be multipurpose and multifunction centres, the aim is to make them a central hub for new processes of restoration and development.
The institutional function and scientific approach of these museums is to preserve and promote the territory’s heritage and traditional cultures.
